Prepare Mixture


Start with your regular joint compound in a drywall mud tray.


Recommended Ratio: Add approximately 1-2 cups for every 3.5 gallon box of joint compound.

  • How can I make joint compound dry faster without cracking?

    Drying time depends on humidity, temperature, and airflow.

  • How do I stop bubbles or pinholes in joint compound?

    Bubbles (sometimes called “boiling”) and pinholes are caused by trapped moisture or air in the mud. 


    By pulling out excess moisture during drying, MudCure minimizes these imperfections, which means less sanding and rework.

  • Does MudCure change the texture or color of my mud?

    Yes, it may change the color and texture while drying; however, once it’s sanded and painted, your mud will retain its normal finish and paint will cover evenly.

  • When should I use MudCure—on every coat or just some coats?

    Most drywallers see the best results when using MudCure on the first two coats of joint compound. 


    By controlling moisture early, later coats — especially a thin level 5 skim coat — often dry evenly without additional MudCure. 


    If you do use it on a level 5 coat, you’ll need much less product compared to earlier coats.
